I'm trying to install Norton 360 from my disk onto my D drive, Can this be done?
Let me try this again, because I was not clear in my first post. I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC. I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Nortons 360. Can this be done. Thanks you
Hi jayzad
If you are asking about installing on a removable drive then no.
Yes that is what I was asking. Thank you for your help.
Installing All the Programs/Applications in the External USB Drive!!!???
First of all installing All the Programs/Applications, leave alone Notron 360, in the External USB Drive is a EXTREMELY BAD IDEA. If your External USB Drive stops working because of some reason like sudden failure, Accidental Disconnection, etc., then your system will become unusable or even CRASH.
External USB Drives are used only for Backups or storing important Data only.
Revert back or you may face many problems.
I will have to add a strong second to this last comment.
I run two internal drives for applications and data while I use an external USB drive as my backup drive
I also use USB drives for storing pictures and other documents that I have created and don't call upon often
So far the system is working well and I have only lost what my foolishness has eliminated
Hope this helps
I'd add to those two posts about why not to ....
Using a second internal hard drive for applications and data can still be frustrated by Windows own internal insistence on putting certain files on the boot drive anyway. And expecially with Security applications that dig deep into the system it is probably just as well not to mess with this.
Using it for data for normal applications can be fine but with hard drives getting larger and larger it may not be worth while, especially if you are conscientious about backing up to a different physical drive .....
