How to know what Norton is doing?

I occasionally see Norton Security taking up a lot of resources (in Windows' Task Manager).

I then wonder what activity it is that Norton Security is doing at that point in time ?

Naively I right-click the Norton Security icon:

only to see that there's no such option. I would like the ability to be able to see what task it is that NS is currently carrying out. Secondly I would like the ability to postpone or pause such ongoing task. I can't see I can do that from the UI and since no one else seem to be complaining about this I wonder if I have misunderstood how NS works.

I figured that - by looking at Windows' Resource Monitor tool - that it is probably some kind of NS disk scan which is taking up the resources. Since NS doesn't tell me what it is doing that's just a guess. Anyway I have my setting for "Full System Scan" as below:

meaning that logically - if NS works as advertised - it cannot be a full system scan which is bothering me.

In conclusion: How to know what NS is currently doing ?   and how to stop/pause/postpone that ?
