Yes, I refer to [Passwordless Vault Unlock]
and with recommended I mean everything I read officially in the Norten page s about. When I try to turn on Passwordless Vault Unlock in settings, I get a popup which says I have no active devices. Maybe it works with mobile devices only, but I have the NPM on my desktop only and will never have it on my mobile phone. I have no apps on my mobile phone which needs passwords.
Thanks for your detailed instructions. My conclusion: big setup, need an additional and running device to have my NPM automatically up and running. In this case I stay with one click to start NPM in my browser, tap the password, done. Simple and straight forward. Thanks again, anyway.
Sounds like you’re storing NPM vault password with your browser built-in password manager?
Curious, are you running browser password manager along side Norton Password Manager?
Caveat: Norton Password Manager is not my daily rider
Okay…I was imagining “tap the password” meant Google Password Manager filled in NPM vault password.
Google Password Manager is built-in Chrome. chrome://password-manager/passwords
Hope I not bother you, but to bring the story to an end this. In my logical and practical understanding any given functionality switching from full or partly manual to full or partly automatic should result in a improvement. meaning less or none manual operations, right? Example: Outside your main entrance to your house you have a wall lamp to be switched on in the evening and switched off in the morning. To make it fully automatic, you simply use a sensor day/night bulb and leave the switch permanently on, 100% improvment, no manual operations at all. In our case with the PM, it isn´t. Don´t you agree? Thanks and have a nice day.
Norton requires you to log into your password vault each time you open your browser as a security feature. This is in case you move away from your computer without locking it or turning it off, no one can just open your browser and access your logins.
Norton says it’s quicker, or easier. That’s assuming you haven’t left your phone in another room. I find it quicker to type in a password that I remember and that is quite easy to type. Passwords that are used often should be easy to type, even if difficult to guess. I like 2 unrelated words with special characters thrown in.
