How to re-activate Product Key?

Hi,

I recently lost most of the stuff on my Laptop, including my Norton Account, Emails and Favourites due to a Malaware Virus.

PC World 'cleaned' it and put it back to 'store bought set-up'

I now want to re-install my Norton Account, but off course have no record of original emails with account numbers etc, but I did keep a written record of my 'Norton Product Key'.

I only renewed the account around a couple of months ago, so don't want to pay twice.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've looked at the link you gave, but I actually do have my Norton Product Key Number, but have no Norton A/C now installed on my laptop, as this was lost along with all my other stuff.

What I would like to know, is how do I get my account back that this key is for, as I only recently renewed it before my losses.

LG, your account is safe.  If you remember, when you set up your Norton security product (AV or NIS), you were asked to create an online account.  This account is based on the email address you gave at the time.  If you cannot remember the password you used, you can use the "forgot your password" option on the log-in page (my account: https://www.mynortonaccount.com/amsweb/default.do?product_lang=EN).

The important thing at the moment is to get you up and running with an installer.

The easiest is to download the trialware version of your software, then use your activation key when queried, which will then convert the trialware to the retail version.  Make sure you download the correct product.  If you had NAV on your computer, download NAV 2009 from here (NAV 2009 Trialware) .  If you had NIS on your computer, download NIS 2009 from here (NIS 2009 Trialware).  If you had 360 on your computer, download 360 version 3 from here (Norton 360 Trialware).

The correct sequence for you would be:

1.  Download the product you need -- it should self-install.

2.  Be patient with the installation.  It will probably require a reboot and you will need to wait until it tells you that it is complete and ready to go.

3.  At some point you will be asked if you want to purchase the product or if you have an activation code.  That is when you will put the code in.

4.  Then you will be asked to create a Norton Account or if you already have one.  Choose the option that you already have one and want to log in to that one.  Then choose the "forgot my password option".  Your password will either be sent to your email address or a new replacement one will be sent to the email address.

Keep your windows open.  Go to your email, collect the password information.  Return to the window where you log in and use the password information to log in.

This should complete the entire installation for you.

Good luck and please keep us informed about how this worked out for you.

Hi,

Thankyou for your very helpful reply.

I did all you listed and after a bit of juggling around, as they didn't didn't recognise my product key and I had no old emails to get it from as they'd been lost, so I went into the help and was given my account details with all the purchase info including my correct key to tap in and Bingo!

I now have full Norton cover once more, although I'm still very curious how this malaware virus was able to take over my laptop and basically take all my stuff when I had anti virus and firewall etc.

Anyway thanks again for your help it's very much appreciated.

Ellgee,

That's great to hear.
