How to reset a Backup Set but keep its settings?

Running Norton 360 / Norton Security Suite Version: 5.1.0.29 on Win 7

My local (C:) backup just keeps growing and growing.

How can I clear the backup set and make it start over without losing all my fine tuning of file/folder selections?

Thanks.

This did help. I used Windows Explorer to move the Norton Backup to an external drive (in case I needed it later) and then ran a backup (no complaints by Norton). The new backup took ~30GB vs the 106GB of the one I moved.

What I have been trying to do is to backup only the data files. It looks like this MIGHT work for rotating through three sets of backups, something not easy to do in Norton (It doesn't have a way to easily apply a set of rules onto a different backup set).

Instead, I do a monthly manual copy of data files to an external drive (onto the oldest of 3) and file it in my safe deposit box. Quarterly, I do a full clone to the external drive using CloneZilla, in case I need a complete system restore. The Norton backup of data files is my quick recovery source for data mid-month.

One reason my backup set shrinks is I keep adding history & cache directories to the exclude rules, yet there are no easy way to get them out of the backup set (using the Norton explorer takes FOREVER). Norton backs up a lot of stuff that is unneeded.
