Hello,
I work online and my main software is not recognizing version 6 so I might have to go back to version 5 since it worked with that just fine and have checked the FAQ's and tried reading this forum and found no instructions so far. So, any information on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
It would help Norton to know the details of the problem since they obviously would want to fix it if it is inherent in the V6.
But to keeep you going please do it this way since Snowstorms suggestions may not get you to where you want to be!
If you use the Identity Safe, export your password and ID data to a safe place not on your main drive.
Downlolad the Norton Removal Tool as below but don't run it yet
Download this installation file for Norton 360 V5 but don't run it yet. Make sure you match Standard or Premier according to what you have the KEY for since the keys are not interchangeable.
Uninstall N360 V6 using the normal Remove a Program of Windows.
Run the Norton Removal Tool a couple of times with a restart after each run.
Run the installation file for N360 V5 that you downloaded and if you are running under VISTA or Windows 7 start the installation by right mouse clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as Administrator (you can't do that if you are in XP)
[I don't have N 360 to hand so I can't check where this is if it is in N 360 but ther should be a Setting somewhere -- probably in a group labeled LiveUpdate if it's like NIS -- where you can disable the notification of new product upgrades. This should stop you being nagged about V6 since when it is ON the files are downloaded automatically before asking if you want to install! But it will obey you if you tell it not to install! ]
After the product is installed (and preferably after disabling that upgrade notifier) run LiveUpdate Manually a few times with a restart in between and you should be fully uptodate for V5.
Import your Identity Safe data if you use and saved it.
Activate it with the same KEY you have for your current N 360 -- presumably the V5 but any key will work.
If anything is not clear plelase ask before you try and let us know how you get on ....
