Using Windows Explorer you right click on the item you wish to scan and click on Norton 360 and then scan selected items.
If you are using Windows 11, you have to do one more thing to see the Norton 360. After right clicking on the file, the bottom item is Show more options. Clicking that will bring up a list that includes the Norton 360.
That does not work. Norton 360 only brings up quick scan, full scan, etc. I tried targeted scan and that brings up a list of all areas to scan, not just a scan for the one highlighted item. It just said no path. I am using Windows 11 now, but it was doing it on Windows 10 also after my Norton changed to Norton 360. Can we no longer select only one item to scan with Norton 360? Even my previous security company before I changed to Norton had that feature.
I cannot find anything that looks like what you sent me. I took some screenshots of what I show but it says I cannot upload attachments to you. Thank you for trying, but I am still unable to scan anything but the entire computer.
@Maryann_Hogan Is your Norton install version 25.9.10453? This is where to look. Also your permissions level is still at new user vice basic. Basic is required to be able to post screenshots unfortunately.
I finally found it, my version is 25.8.10387 (build 25.8.10387.948). I have had Norton for two full years, recently renewed at the end of July for one more year. Why is it still considered new? I just also saw the banner that a new version is available but I couldn’t figure out how to update it.
In September of 2024 Norton released the first NEW version 24.xxx which replaced the 22.24.8.36 series, since then. The latest release has gone to 25.9.10453 and it signifies many bug fixes to the original new core engine Norton now uses for its product. You should run live updates to get the latest release.
Thank you. I could not find the live updates area, but it updated today when I turned it on. I now have the updated version. I still have not found anything where it says scan selected items or anything that looks like the page sent three days ago. Can you explain where I can find that? Thank you
Hi there. W11
The ‘context menu‘ activated scan does not seem to pop a UI Window to view. However the scan does take place.
The results exist in the ‘Recent History’ navigated through the Main UI or right-click on the taskbar / sys tray icon ‘View Recent History’.
Example. Pick an icon on your desktop, cover it with the cursor pointer, 1xright-click should pop the ‘context menu‘, navigate close to the bottom ‘Show more Options‘, 1xleft-click, the menu changes, find Norton 360, move to the ‘Scan selected items for viruses‘, 1xleft-click. Since you only selected the icon, the scan will proceed. Look for the results in ‘Recent History’, as above.
Thank you for replying. I was able to finally figure it out. It took a few more steps than I was used to but I’m sure once I do it a few more times it will become second nature. Your help is appreciated.
