How to turn off Auto Scan if PC is idle

I would really like to set a time for it or turn it to run at least once a week rather than daily as it seems. I believe it is starting to mess with my games if it runs and cleans files out, which I think is more cache than anything. I was playing CoD MW3, came back after getting a shower and it had ran it's smart scan/quick scan when it was idle, I started the game back up and was having major FPS drops afterwards when prior, it ran fine. I was also having issues with it removing thumbnails and images not loading properly afterwards.

I'm not sure I was looking in the right spot to disable or set it to run at a different time, can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't care if i have to turn it off entirely, I just want it to stop breaking things.

My apologies for the very tardy reply, things have been ultra busy of late. These are my settings in Task Scheduling, you were asking whether to check there in your last post. With the settings I have selected my PC will perform automatic tasks after being away for at least 20 minutes. My suggestion is to select "Manual Schedule" and disable "Run only at idle time". Save your settings and reboot for Norton to see those changes.

Sorry, I forgot about this but that is what I turned off. It's still running on it's own.

Disable Idle Time Optimizer in settings>administrative settings.

Unfortunately, that did not stop it from scanning while idle. Any other things I should shut off or try to get this to stop? Maybe task scheduling?

From the article I linked for you to review: Idle Time Out delays the automated tasks for 10 minutes after your computer goes idle, wakes from sleep or hibernation or a start or restart is performed.

  • Automatic Resume Delay From Sleep Or Hibernation, Automatic Tasks Delay, Idle Time Out: Change the default time settings for when automated tasks run after you start, wake, or leave your computer idle.

Oh, I was looking in Task Scheduling earlier. Will try this out, thank you.

Edit: What does the Idle Time Out mean/do?

Hello. This article may help.
