You may enter the product key directly into your existing software, as there is no need to uninstall and reinstall the application. Since your previous subscription expired just yesterday, you do not have to worry about losing any remaining subscription days.

Method 1: Directly inside the Norton application

1. Open your Norton 360 desktop application.
2. Click your Profile icon in the top-right corner.
3. Click Enter Product Key (or hover over Serial Number and select Enter a Key).
4. Type in your new product key and follow the prompts to complete activation.

Method 2: Through your Norton Account online

1. Visit the Norton Setup Page.
2. Type in your Amazon product key and click Next.
3. Sign in using your existing Norton account credentials. The new subscription will automatically link to your account and sync down to your computer.

Norton may ask you to enroll in automatic renewal. If you prefer to buy retail keys from Amazon every year, you may be able to skip this step or turn off auto-renewal in your account settings afterwards to avoid automatic credit card charges next year.

When you enter the new key, the software will securely connect to Norton’s servers, update your subscription status, and download any security updates you missed while it was expired. You do not need to download anything else or start over.

However, there is an exception: if you bought a completely different tier of Norton – for example, if you had Norton 360 Standard but your new Amazon key is for Norton 360 Deluxe, the software will still activate instantly, but you may need to click a prompt to let it install extra features or additional cloud backup space.

You only need a clean reinstall if the software gets “stuck” showing an expired error message even after you have entered the new key and signed into your correct Norton account.
