How to use Norton Management

I just discovered the Norton Management tool.  I bought my son a new laptop and would like to install Norton on it.  I have a 3 PC license with my wife and daughter using the other two.  My problem is I already uninstalled Norton off his old laptop and can't add it to the account using the management tool.  What can I do?

Just to verify...Do you already have 3 PC's active on your key, or is the new laptop the third computer? Was the Norton on the old laptop still active?

 

If the new laptop is the 3rd computer, you can log into your Norton Account from the new laptop and click on the Download button beside your active subscription. This will download and install a preactivated copy  of NIS. Just run LiveUpdate a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.

The old laptop was the third and since I already uninstalled Norton from it and just discovered the management tool today I never had a chance to add it to my account so I could turn around and delete it.  I would like the new laptop to be the third.  I am going to retire the old laptop.  Got 9 years out of it.

You will have to release the license from the old laptop. To do this, you can log into Norton Management here  using your Norton Account login info. Click on the My Account tab, and look for the old laptop under 'manage my installs'. Clicking on the trash can beside that entry will release the install for the new laptop.

 

Then follow the instructions in my post above to download and install from Norton Account.
