I am about ready to cancel Norton. It causes my computer to run slow: 14% of memory ( have 16 GB installed on windows 10 pro), and sometimes as high as 40% of the disk use. Often Norton is the highest in Task Manager. Why? Or should I just cancel?

up to 40% - 47% on disk usage. 10-20% on memory (out of 16 GB). I have moved the scheduled scan to Sunday and cancelled the background scan. I have invoked quiet time. Nothing works. I canceled by trial on the tracker blocker but the Norton window shows it still open. I have tried to close the deep web monitor without success. Slow run occurs at start-up and at random during the day. Three times in the last month Norton required a restart on updates. That is OK by itself, but the pop-up requesting the restart indicated that Norton had been turned OFF. This was during the six hours that I was out of the office and the computer running. No norton? why have the program? I have used Norton exclusively since 2007. The only thing I need from Norton is virus, firewall, malware. I do not need the constant flood of "buy this new feature for free now but it will cost $$$$$ when you renew.

Norton, please respond.
