Recently I am unable to send or receive emails in Outlook (Office 365).
When I shut off Norton VPN, Outlook works perfectly. Is there a way to keep the VPN from interfering with email processing? It sometimes helps to restart my computer (Windows 11), but if I let the computer sleep and re-awake the problem will resurface.
Any suggestions?
Good suggestion I will look to see if express vpn is loading on my PC
I’m not sure how it got there, but I just noticed expressVPN has been loading on my computer at startup. I turned that off as well as the windows service feature calling for expressVPN to run and I have not had any issues with Outlook or my email running at all. I still have Norton VPN starting automatically and everything seems to work as expected now. I hope this also helps anyone else.
I hope, since the problem occurs and is corrected by turning on/off my Norton VPN, there would be a way to designate that the email provider being used is allowed access around the VPN. I don't believe the problem is Comcast or Microsoft, so I'm hoping Norton support can help.
I will try contacting Norton VPN support. I will post my efforts as I attempt this solution path.
Allen,
Similar situation here, although I'm using Win 10. Use Outlook from MS Office 2019 on local machine and Comcast email, and when using VPN the connection with the Comcast mail will not work. It just keeps responding with a connection error. If I keep clicking on Send/Receive All Folders, after 5 or 6 times in a row it will sometimes connect and download email from Comcast server. If I turn the VPN off, there is no problem.
