I can't restore backup after update

So I updated to the windows 10 anniversary update, a clean install. The first thing I did is reinstall norton and updated it. I then tried to restore files from the backup set I had, but I end up getting failed restore with an X next to every file. I tried the arestore.exe and the same thing happens. I can also see my files on the norton backup drive folder and it's all there, but can't restore anything. What can I do to make restore work.

What I mean is that to do the clean install I had to format the C drive i had, which is where the OS would go. The backup drive is connected to the the laptop and is on the D drive, its the data drive. Nothing on the D drive was deleted. This is the pic of it.  Its asus n56vj. This is also how can i get in to see the files 'Norton Backup Drive\DefaultSet on D:\C:\'. Edit: 5 min later i went back i now i can restore files i will let u know if it works. Thank you so much.

Exactly what do you mean by a "clean install" and was the backup drive connected to the machine when you did it?  Do you have anything else on the backup drive other than the Norton backup?

I must admit that I am puzzled that Norton can see the files but cannot restore them.

I could see every individual file in the Nortonbackup drive and tried to restore individuals files from there and and can't even restore a file I selected. By the way its theres only one backup. Maybe the clean install corrupted the backup drive.

Hi adamkarp.

Not sure what is going on but I will try and respond in this thread an leave the other one that bjm_ has highlighted as it seems to be the same.

When you look at your old backups can you see reference to individual files?  If so have you tried just restoring one and if so does that work?
