I just gave up and ordered a new Norton antivirus with my credit card. But I got an Attention warning. "If you continue with the dowload the better antivirus that in now on your machine will be deleted." Well, the message was something like this.
On my old computer I still have 218 days left and it is supposed to be available for 3 Devices. Is it possible to transfer the program to my new computer? Of course I have the serial number.
I just got two emails from Norton thanking me for my order. I did not complete the orders so I wonder what this is about.
I wish I could talk to someone on the phone at Norton. This option evidently is not available though.
When you buy a new copy of Norton and install it it uninstalls the previous version which is often an earlier version and it wipes out the unexpired time of the old one because they each have their own activation key. When you renew then the new time is added.
But all is not lost because the Norton OnLine Support Staff can sort that out and put you back to where you would be.
<< . "If you continue with the dowload the better antivirus that in now on your machine will be deleted." >>
That is why you got that worning message. But what did you do when you got that message? Did you stop the download before it started the installation procedure that includes the deletion OR did it run through and leave you with the new installation and its one year subscription, it that is what you bought?
The best thing is for you to contact Norton OnLine Support using the CHAT method via your computer keyboard rather than the phone because it is often quicker to reply and less chance of misunderstanding. If you explain to them what happened and have handy the order email cofirmations it should be straightforward.

Please let us know how you get on ....
The phone call I made hooked me up to Logmein.com. This was absolutely ridiculous. I hung up twice after the "experts" from this company kept calling me back. The agents said that they handled Norton's phone calls.
This morning I used the Norton Chat Support. I waited about five minutes before an agent responded. He asked me a few questions and then solved all my problems. It was quick and efficient. I'll know where to go if I have Norton problems in the future.
Tommy,

I'd say this pretty clearly confirms you were not speaking to Norton but to one of the third party companies that legitimately or not offer support and that all too often say you need to buy a new copy from them .... or worse.
Norton do use remote access but not normally for problems with subscriptions or activation!
Do feel free to come here if you have a problem or a "puzzlement" since the solution can often explained or a route to Norton help given.
