I have problem activating with a new subscription

Note: Please do not post Personally Identifiable Information like email address, personal phone number, physical home address, product key etc.

Issue abstract: My old Norton 360 expired which I did not renew, and I purchased from retail a new subscription of Norton 360. I was able to install on 3 of my devices. But on my iphone and MacBook Air, after removing and reinstalling, it keeps linking to my old expired subscription. How can I activate/redeem with the new subscription product key?

Detailed description: As above

Product & version number: Norton 360 Premium

OS details:iOS 17.6.1 for iphone and MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1 for MacBook Air

What is the error message you are seeing?

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

I tried the RemovalNortonMacFiles tools several times and reinstall, but after installation here’s what happened. On my MacBook Air, it would give me a server error when trying to activate. On my iPhone, it would activate but still associate with the expired subscription and serial number.

When I log in to Norton, under my subscriptions, I can see the new subscription with 3 successfully installed devices (1 Mac, 1 PC and 1 iPad), but under the expired subscription, there is only a click to “view devices” where my MacBook is shown there, but there is no place to remove it. It just shows “inactive”. The old subscription also shows a “renew” button. If I click it, it takes me to Norton’s page to choose product to purchase, which is not what I want to do.

The new retail version is a physical one with a product key, not a downloadable version.

So, under My Subscriptions (expired subscription) - Manage Licenses - you don’t see Remove License?

and under My Devices…you don’t see Remove?

~ may be best to contact Norton support

Thank you for your reply. For the new subscription, it shows just like yours where I have 3 devices successfully installed, and I can also remove subscription for each device.

My problem is that when I tried to install additional devices, my iPhone and MacBook, it seems to link to the expired subscription and not the new subscription.

Below please see my screen shots:

  1. This shows my new subscription with 3 devices successfully installed
  2. This is the expired subscription. The only clickable buttons are the “View Devices” and “Renew Now”
  3. When I click the “View Devices” link, it shows 2 of the 3 installed devices (not showing iPad), and no way to remove my “MacBook Air” which the one I cannot install. I also don’t understand why the 2 devices are listed here and 1 can be removed but not the other.

It says I cannot embed media in my message. Don’t know how to show my screen shots.

maybe, convert png to pdf > https://png2pdf.com > upload pdf
for example:
png2pdf.pdf (23.4 KB)

mask personally identifiable information

It says “Sorry, new users can not upload attachments.” What else can I do…

Hello @Johnny_Kao

Just want to update that my issue has been resolved. What happened was that the retail version I purchased has a geo-lock (I’m in Taiwan) and would not allow me to install for some of my devices. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks!

and there was no error/message regarding “geo-lock”?

Message: “This product key is not supported for the country registered to your Norton account”

Thanks for posting progress.

No, there was no error message about geo-lock. Either “server error” on my MacBook, or just linked to my old subscription for my iPhon.
