I installed Norton 360 and now I can't export reports from Quickbooks to Excel

I was using McAfee security and I switched to Norton 360. I am trying to export reports from Quickbooks 2020 to Excel 2021. I was able to do this before installing Norton 360 and I do this daily. When Excel opens it says "compile error in hidden module update reports". I did run the update programs in Norton after installing it, so I tried uninstalling Office 2021 and reinstalling it. I still can't open these reports. This is something that I use daily and I need it to work.

Your welcome!!

I just tried those links today and they work! I have had a problem accessing websites since installing Norton too. But I figured I would address that later. I will not use the software updater any longer.

Thank you for all of your help!!

Humm,,those links open as advertised on my end. And you are most welcome, glad we could help. My personal advice is forgo using software updater. It isn't very accurate or a mature feature in its current form. Causes more issues than it resolves.

The links that you gave for Excel and Quickbooks both go to a page not found. I did research if my Quickbooks was 32 or 64 bit. It is 32bit and Microsoft office 2021 can be downloaded as either. I uninstalled my office and then reinstalled it as the 32 bit version and now my reports from Quickbooks do export without the error. I can only figure that when I ran the Norton software update somehow it changed my Office to 64 bit, because it had worked fine before I downloaded Norton and then ran the software updater.

Thank you for the ideas to help me resolve this!!

I uninstalled McAfee using the tool you mentioned and did a reboot. I still can't export to Excel.  How do I find the history in Norton to send? Also Excel and Quickbooks were working fine before the install of Norton. I use this feature almost daily in Quickbooks so how could they now be 32 bit vs 64 bit incompatible?

Thanks for the post back. Did you use the MCPR tool offered by McAfee in the article I linked? I have removed McAfee for customers in the past and found the hard way, just how incomplete its not removed by the standard Windows removal scenario. I would run that tool to ensure nothing remains that could be a conflict.

Please look in your Norton history for entries that may show where Norton is actually doing the blocking. The error you are seeing in general, is due to one of the Excel modules being incompatible. IE: The version of Quickbooks may be 32 bit whereas, the version of Excel may be 64 bit and Excel is protecting the document from opening. I'd like to see what Norton may or may not be reporting so that we can help further. If you do find something for us to review please get a screenshot of it and post here.

When I installed Norton it saw that McAfee was on my computer and it prompted me to remove it which I did.

Hello did you remove the McAfee software before installing Norton?
