Any ONLINE SAFETY software should make it's primary concern limiting access to the Internet, NOT limiting access to the whole computer. I need an application that allows me to limit INTERNET ACCESS to certain times of the day or to a schedule. Blocking access to the whole computer is just silly.... the child can't use MS Word, play music, watch learning videos/tutorials, nothing.
Until this feature is added to Online Family, I will be using other software.
While I wouldn't mind the addition of Internet only based time access, for us overall time (as it is now) is the most important since our children spend most of their time wanting to play video games (some on-line, some local).
The truly ideal solution for us would be to add the ability to create a group of programs and specific educational websites that when actively in use do not add to the "use timer". Everything else would use up time, but programs such as Word, Typing tutors, Math tutors, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and Educational web sites (including wikipedia) could be specifically configured to not use up "play time" when they are actively in use.
