Access to iCloud applications, such as contacts and calendar, are blocked by the intrusion prevention feature. Will Norton solve this? Is there a workaround?
Access to iCloud applications, such as contacts and calendar, are blocked by the intrusion prevention feature. Will Norton solve this? Is there a workaround?
Here is what happens:
If Norton is enabled as an add-on in Explorer 9, i can log into iCloud, but I cannot access functons such as calendar, contacts or notes.
If i disable Norton as an add-on, and load iCloud, it performs normally, I can load functions like calendar.
If I turn Norton back on and try to load iCloud in a new window, I can log into iCloud (if it loads at all -- long running scripts), but I cannot load any functions (e.g., calendar).
If i disable Norton while already logged into iCloud, I cannot load iCloud functions.
If I now close my browser with Norton disabled, reopen it and try to open iCloud, it functions normally.
Same problem here. Any solution yet?
Turn off Norton?
Hello,
Did you try using any other browsers such as Firefox or Google Chrome? Can you tell me the Norton product and version you have?
Thanks!

Yikes - and I thought is was an Apple vs PC issue !!
I have the exact same issue(s). Note that there is no warning or history registration in Norton, iCloud is just slow and the apps say they cannot open due to missing information. But if Intrusion Prevention Add-On is Disabled all apps etc work perfectly.
I am running Windows7 Professional - SP1 64x, IE 9, and the latest NIS 2011.
Just got an iPhone so previously never utilized iCloud or any other Apple products.
Any issues with iTunes?
Hello all,
It would be really good if you can gather log files for this problem.
Here is how you can collect it:
1) Visit the below site:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=kb20080507162141EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
2) In the end, no files will be sent to Symantec automatically. You will be shown the location of the logs after you complete the form after hitting the "finish" button.
Let me know when you have the logs ready, I will help you to upload it.
Thanks!
Vineeth
FYI
Win 7 Ultimate Sp1, NIS 2013 20.2.0.19, Firefox 17.0.1
iCloud works fine.
iCloud works fine on Chrome, Firefox and, of course, Safari.
Hello jrstorella,
Thank you for the information!
Did you get chance to collect the log files? It would be really helpful if you can gather it at the earliest.
Thanks!
Vineeth
Possible solution: In Norton Utilities 16 I went to Performance --> Boost your Windows StartUp. Then I disabled most of the applications there. Now, iCloud seems to be woking normally. Can't say which appliction was stopping it.
