I was advised by LynnH (Symantec Employee) to post this in a new thread.
This problem has been happening since 19.2 with NIS 2012 (even though I'm currently back on 2011) ...
Upon initially starting my XP, SP3 system (cold,) I have noticed that there is excessive disk activity when logging in for the 1st time. About 30 seconds later a Toast appears telling me that the Quick Scan has completed successfully. Weird. I am unsure whether my Win 7 box exhibited the same symptoms, since 2011 is running on that box, as well.
