I don't run Power eraser often so I thought it would be a good idea to run it just to make sure there was nothing harmful on my computer. It came up with this IEXPLORE.EXE-4B6C9213.pf . Obviously it has something to do with Internet Explorer but I don't know if it something that is harmful or not/ Let me know what you think and thanks in advance.
Hello Philip. I'm following up on some older posts. Can we assist further with the post?
Cheers
Thanks, its always good hearing nothing is amiss. As I said in my last post prefetch has a lot of information there. Most all the files have the .pf extension and the names will vary by the OS being used. Your system appears to be clean, nothing to worry over. NPE as I said is a very aggressive tool, what you saw was a true "false positive", removing it COULD have damaged your operating system thus the Malwarebytes suggestion to be absolutely sure.
Cheers
Thanks. It didn't show up with a Malwarebytes scan.
Hello PhilipS1. The file you have shown is related to system "prefetch". The system uses pre-fetch to load software and related services when a computer boots up. It COULD be a security risk. Not knowing your browser version nor the OS you are using I would recommend downloading and running Malwarebytes to check for potential malware. You can get it HERE. I WOULD NOT have NPE remove that file since NPE is a very aggressive tool and is prone to false positives. Let us know what if anything MBAM finds and removes.
Cheers
