I'm doing a WinXP Pro x64 upgrade to Win7 Pro. I have Norton Ghost 15 backing up to another internal drive. The upgrade advice is to use Windows Easy Transfer to backup to an external drive and this is taking 1 day 6 hours. Windows Easy Transfer won't backup to an internal drive leaving one to suspect that Win7 won't leave anything on the internal backup drive when it completes its Custom clean install. I do have the option to disconnect the backup drive when I do the Win7 installation. My question is, if Windows leaves the Norton Ghost 15 backup intact on the internal backup drive, can this be used in any way to restore files or will it balk. I understand operating system files will be different and that files in the C:Program Files (x86) might not work.
