Thank you for response. I followed the process in the link and it still does not work. First thing I notice is that when saving the file, the second popup referring to "exporting a CSV file does not come up. The second thing I noticed that the pull down list in Nord import screen has only four options, last one being :nord password (CSV). That is the one tht I used The error message only says it failed try again. I have too many passwords to enter them by hand so I really to make this work. My 30 day free trial runs out in three weeks. I really appreciatte your assistance. Thanks
Ok. I have an idea. Hopefully you have the time to follow along and see if this corrects your issue. I’m thinking the issue may be where the initial export from Kaspersky took place. So. Lets go back to step #1 where, you export your passwords from Kaspersky. Do the following to export to a text file:
[Export data for printing]
Open the main application window.
Click gear icon in the lower part of the main application window.
In the opened menu, click Settings. The application settings open.
Select the Import/Export section.
In the Export to text file section, click Export.
In the window that opens, specify the file name and folder you want to save the file.
Click OK.
The application will copy your notes and credentials to a TXT file.
Next, please perform this suggestion to covert the text file to a CSV:
When done lets see if the file contents are correct for the Norton extension to import them. I hope this does the trick and saves you a tons of headaches.
Thank you for you patience. I thought that this was getting too complex so I changed my approach to limit the variables at play. I downloaded the Norton template into the free version of excel and populated it manually with two made up sites, logins and passwords. I saved it as a CSV file and uploaded it into Norton password program. I have only four options for source file types and I tried them all and none worked. To be clear I am using the browser extension through Edge to access the PW manager I used their template with simple data, and their process and it still fails. To be honest I am getting close to going back to Kaspersky. I really appreciatte your efforts so and If you have any ideas as to what is going I will gladly try them.
What I was trying to have you accomplish was getting a clean text file exported from Kaspersky. Take that file and save it to csv using the free Excel. Then import that csv into Edge or whatever browser you choose. The browser should ask for a csv of your choosing VICE a template. From there the import should be straight forward. I’m not 100% sure we have accomplished that or maybe I am a bit confused about the way you are doing things.
Hello again. I really appreciate the time and patience you have shared with me. The issue has been resolved and I think you deserve to know how and why.
What I suspected was that the problem was the Norton software and not the file or its format. That is why I created a simple file in excel as you suggested. It didn’t work but it was very revealing. Clearly an issue with the Norton software.
I finally got through to the support staff on chat line and we tried several things, none of which worked. The support person called his supervisor and described the issue. After a couple of seconds he chuckled and said he had seen it before. It was the Edge browser that I was using. When I switched to Chrome as he suggested the import software took the file that Kaspersky had exported and imported it in a couple of seconds without errors. Success.
Once again I thank you for your help and hope that this information will help you assist others.
