Hi there!
First on all, excuse my poor written English; I am a French Canadian, and I am on this English Forum because no one answered me on the French one. :-(
That said, I bought Norton Security primarily for securing protection for my old desktop iMac, secondly for my Android TV Box, and finally for my tablets and phones, as the first and second devices are more at risk, given how my family and me use these different devices.
The first time I installed the Norton App on my Tv Box, everything worked fine, without any problem whatsoever. But I had to uninstall it as I did a complete reset to the plant settings, and an update for Android. Following that, and with all configurations done again, I could install the Norton App, but it failed to complete the initial configuration, an "Server Error" message appearing stating that they had issue with the processing of my request, and that I have to try again later.
I tried a considerable amount of times, even after resetting my modem and router, and uninstalling IPVanish, as a Norton agent told me once to do, but nothing new happened, always the same error message.
Since June, 25, 2017, I went on the chat in many occasions with various Norton Support agents, without any solution provided by them, nor a viable alternative, and no commitment either that there will be a quick update to the app for it to be compatible with my TV Box, and all other Android boxes.
They argued that on the Norton Website, it is written that protection will be provided for Android phones and tablets, but that there is no statement that the Android TV Boxes would be protected. I understand that very well, but Android is Android, and I am pretty sure that with a minimum of will, they can modify the app to be used on other Android devices, as a Tv Box.
You know what? The free AVG app is compatible and works fine on my TV box, and, I repeat, it's free!
Are the AVG techs better than the Norton team? This is incredible, to say the least, that a company who claim to be among the best with a lot of awards couldn't to such a simple thing, namely updating its app so it will be working on a TV Box running on Android, as most of the phones and tablets on earth. IMO, the Norton Management team has to do something about that issue, don't you think?
I am sure that a lot of people have Android TV Boxes, load a lot of apps and Kodi addons, and do streaming all the time. Don't they need a good protection for these devices as they need it for their pcs, phones and tablets?
I feel as I have thrown my money out of the window, at least in part, as my Tv Box is my second most important device in need of protection against viruses, malware, etc.
For your information, my TV Box is a Matricom G Box Q (first generation, and not the Q2 or Q3), running on Android 5.1.1.
Do you have a solution?
Thanks for you taking time to read me and... maybe give me a hint.
