In my security history, is it quarentined or removed?

In my security history window, it says that various threats have been quarentined. But when i click on one for mor info, it says it has been removed, and no action is necesary. Which is it?

In the History window click on the drop down list, and select Quarantine.

If the files has been moved there, you will see them.

Let us know the results.

So i did what you said, and i have about 20 high severity downloads/trojans in the quarentine list. However when i click on the individual item, it says on the side-menu that it has been resolved, and no action is needed. I know when i used to have mcafee, theese types of things were quarentined because they could not be removed. So i am confused as to whether or not my computer is safe, and if i can completely remove these trojans.

Hello DK

Since you have updated your N360, is anything now showing in Quarantine? If there is anything there now, a screen shot would help to see what it was that is in Quarantine.

Since you now have the new version of N360, I would suggest that you run a scan with it and see if anything shows up. If anything does show up, then please post a screen shot. Thanks.

As you can see, there are mulitple things that are quarentined, but it says it has been resolved and no action is needed. However, when i scan my computer, it does not detect any security threats. So i think my computer is safe, but i would feel better if i can completely remove theese trojans from my computer.

Hello DK

Is your Java up to date and have you removed any older versions.? The vload. class has something to do with Java. Have you emptied out the cache for Java? You can find the cache by going to control panel and hitting Java. The latest version of Java is 21. You should empty out the temporary files you will find in the Java control panel also.

You could run an on demand full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes to see if anything is still there. Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread.

You can find Malwarebytes here

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES

(Thanks to Delph for providing the alternative site)

Please come back and post the log from malwarebytes. If there is more new malware showing up there, then we have to investigate further. Thanks.

Hmm , this is the log after i did the full scan. This worries me becasue about a month ago, i cought some kind of virus that kept promoting that av security suite software. I thought i got rid of it when i downloaded some kind of eraser tool from the norton website. After contacting nortan, they manually removed theese 2 registry entries so when i scan using this program, it detects no threats.

Hello DK

That's a screen shot of what Malwarebytes found. We should really see the log when you click on logs. You should save it to notepad and then post the log as an attachment.. Can you please post a screenshot which shows the latest log. Thanks.

Your update to the newer version of N360 may not be a proper install if you have malware on your computer when you did the update.

Hi DK,

I think you are probably alright.  First, items in Quarantine are no longer a threat to your computer.  They are items that Norton has removed and placed in this vault where they can no longer run or cause any damage.  The reason for keeping the files in Quarantine is that, should you need to restore them, you can.  While it may seem odd to think that you might want to put a virus back on your PC, sometimes a threat can attach itself to files that you need.  Removing the threat in these cases can leave you without these necessary files and the only way to recover would be to restore the malware and then use other means to eradicate the infection.  So it is best to leave items in Quarantine for a period of time until you are sure that your system and all your applications are running normally.  At that point it is safe to delete them by selecting to show "Quarantine" in the Norton Security History and clicking the Clear Entries button at the bottom of the window.

As to your Malwarebytes' scan, the entries could be orphaned registry entries left over from an earlier infection that was previously removed.  Often such registry entries are left behind, sometimes intentionally, when a threat is resolved.  If your Malwarebytes' log shows no infected files that correspond to the two registry entries this would indicate that the registry detections are harmless remnants of some malware that is no longer an active threat on your system.  Please check and post the log.

OK, i guess i just missunderstood the idea of quarentine then. I did what you said, and i also contacted norton, they also explained to me that my computer is safe, and i have no need to worry.

Many Thanks!

You're welcome.  Glad to hear it's all sorted out.
