Incorrect Driver Release Date

I hope I am posting this to the correct group - if not, please delete this post or move it to the correct one.

Right now, I am using the 60-day trail version of the Norton Driver Udpater (or the programm it is associated with) and I found that the dates of the initial driver release dates are incorrect. According to them, some drivers are over 55 years old. This concerns me, because it may indicate that NDU cannot propperly identify the release date and as such probably not update it correctly either. Also, there appears to be no reset point set when a driver is updated. I am using Windows 11 Pro 24H2 with the lastest updates installed.

Can I be sure that the above issue will not mess up my PC and / or what would I be able to do to avoid any problems?

Thank you in advance.

I have a similar list of Optional Updates for my laptop in Windows Update.

I believe that the listing of the initial date of the driver should not be listed, but the latest version date should be there. These drivers control the motherboard chips, and many were initially released in 1968, but have obviously been updated since then to work with the newer versions of the chipsets.

As bjm_ noted above, the Driver Updater app has caused many difficulties, up to and including causing a system to be unbootable. Personally I would cancel your trial subscription now, before you get charged for it.

Driver Updater = snake oil. Don’t use it.
