Well, we got the same virus. It shut Norton down by changing the registry entry for exe files to av.exe. That made sure that only the av security suite would run. They also shut down the ports on your router. You will constantly be rebooting your router. If you wait long enough they will change the group security to make the documents and settings folder a "shid" folder. Now that it is a system and hidden folder you can not do anything. Next they will re-direct the folders to 27 or so folders deep so you can not access the bottom folder because the path is longer than the number of charactors allowed by Microsoft. Now your desktop is gone. Don't think you can just use restore to get back where you were. Remember you can not access the folders so you can not change anything.
In any case, I managed to get rid of the av.exe file by running malwarebytes software. It is a free down load to remove av.exe, if yu can get it running.
I still have not solved the group policy problem or the 27 sub folder problem. I would like to have the US Government to send in a couple of Seals to eleminate this problem.
If anyone knows how to solve my problem, please advise. I am presently running Malwarebytes, MS Essentials and Norton endpoint. I still get files that pop up and are caught by one of the programs.
