Can someone suggest a solution to the problem I am having inserting an image into a post? I'm sure it just some setting in IE8, that needs to be changed. I used to be able to insert images but I haven't been able to for about the last week. I've tried clicking on the reset defaults tab and I still can't insert an image. To add to the confusion, if I log into Mozilla Firefox, I don't have any problem inserting the same image?

floplot - Thanks for the suggestions, but I still can't insert/edit images using IE8 and I used to be able to upload them? I'm on the same PC, trying to upload the same saved .JPEG file and I can insert/edit the image usign Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12 but not IE8? I'm sure a setting was changed, in IE8, but I can't figure out which one. Would an Office setting cause problems with IE8 and not with Firefox? When I click on the insert/edit "Tree" icon, it does bring up the "Insert Image" screen. When I click on "Browse" it opens another window that lets me select the file to upload. When I double click on the file name, nothing else happens?

There have been some problems with the Forum lately, so maybe this is one of them. However, I have seen people inserting screen shots lately, so sorry, I don't know then.
It sounds like a script may be blocked. Try putting Norton.com and Lithium.com in the Trusted Sites Zone.
I entered both of those sites into the Trusted Site list, but it hasn't helped. I did notice that at the lower left corner is a message "Done but with errors on page.". Would this error message point to my problem?

SendOfJive - It's been a long time since I had any homework to do, but I went to your suggested website and tried their solutions. I first tried the AutoFix solution, it didn't seem to make any difference. I then read through the rest of the post but didn't find anything wrong. I even went to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and clicked on the Reset button, to reset IE settings back to their default condition. I still can't get IE8 to allow me to post an image? Firefox will still allow me to post images but not IE?? I'll keep searching.. Maybe I need to completely uninstall, download and reinstall a new copy of IE8. I don't think I'll try the new BETA IE9..

It didn't seem to matter in either view. The only thing I think I've changed, is I added a router. Could a router be stopping the image uploading but allow everything else?
If it were the router I don't think Firefox would work either.
I didn't really think the router would cause problems with IE and not Firefox, but I'm clutching at straws. I guess it's time to go to bed and think about it..
Did you click "insert image" after you double click on the image you want:
I don't think it would have mattered. When I click on Browse, and then double click on the image file, nothing else happens, The name of the image does not fill in and "Insert Image" is grayed (or pinked) out. I have tried and I can still add an insert/edit link, just not an image?

bjm_ - I ran the Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI) and it didn't find any programs that needed updating. Would the OSI program look for the latest Adobe Flash Player updates? I still can't use IE8 to insert images, I have to use my copy of Firefox to load any images? I even tried using the IE8 Advanced reset program, to return all of the IE8 settings to original settings. It hasn't helped.

I suppose.... just reaching. I imagined you uninstalled Flash before updating and had forgot to install IE Flash.
If OSI finds IE Flash and no Insecure. Then my reaching was just wishful thinking.
Hopefully fresh eye's will have fresh insight. Must be something simple. You were able to upload from IE and then one day the wheels fell off. Any thing else peculiar about IE behavior. You can view YouTube for example in IE.
Does Norton Community site from IE behave OK in all ways except for Upload images.
Hopefully the Community will chime in.
