What was your previous set up?

Why don't you try to disconnect from the internet and try again?

1. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

2. Disconnect from the internet. Go to My Network Places, disable all connection.

3. Try to install NIS 2008

4. Re-enable your connections from My Network Places

My computer crashed so this is a new hardrive I did have xp  serivce pack on the crashed drive.

Any other ideas I got the same outcome- an installation failure.

What do you have on this new hard drive?

I take it you have XP + service pack 2?

Is the machine running normally with just XP on it?

Have you reinstalled a network connection?

Yes normally xp and I have a lan connection.

What are you installing from? Retail pack disc ,OEM disc or downloaded file?

I have cd that they -Symantech sent me
