Installing NIS 2012 & Uninstalling NIS 2011

Hello everyone,

My NIS 2011 expired yesterday, so I attempted to installed NIS 2012  today. (both versions are from CD's).

Inserted the CD, up came the norton window, clicked install NIS, and it downloaded.

However, it never asked me  where to download to, and has appeared (as a folder icon) on the screen as "Norton Installation Files", which contains the following 5 files:

2012Plugin.dll

downloadinfo

NISDownloader[1]

NIS-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs-19-5-0-145-EN

symcdefs

Clicking on the NISDownloader[1]  brings up a window called "Download Manager"  saying   "NIS 2012 installed sucessfully". However, there is no new norton panel or anything else beyond that. Nor is there anything in the dropdown menu.

In the downloading process I wasn't asked for the Product key, Intsalling options or User agreement. Infact it only completed step 1 of 5, as far as I understand.

At the same time, the old NIS 2011 is still there in the dropdown menu, clicking it open shows it's expired, and the window is disabled, however clicking the "check for new versions" shows I have the NIS 2012 version update.

I've tried to uninstall  NIS 2011, both via the control panel and the NIS-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs...... file mentioned above, only to find it wanting to unintall NIS2012. I downloaded the online Norton Removal Tool from this site, only to find it wanting to do the same.

I should note, it's a windows 7 pc and far exceeds the minimum requirements for NIS.

My question is how do I uninstall NIS2011 and get NIS2012 up and working correctly?

My many thanks in advance for your kind help.

Thankyou
