I was offered Norton utilities premium for free as I had Norton 360 on auto renewal. I downloaded the file and ran the exe files. All I get is a window with the gear icon and a ‘Finish’ button. I waited for something to happen... nothing. I pressed the Finish button and the window disappeared. I search for the app on my Windows 10 computer and no results either. So my question is, how do I install it on a Windows 10 computer?
Perhaps a future merger?
Or perhaps a past merger/takeover we never heard about???
You're welcome! Suspected a conflict, but just had to narrow it down. Interestingly, SM and NUP seem to have very similar features, even down to the graphics. Perhaps a future merger?
You're a star. I didn't realise I had IOLO System mechanic on my computer. When I uninstalled IOLO, Norton System Mechanic installed without any problems. Thanks again....
Found a fix - same issue above with two different PCs: NUP would not complete the install and just showed the blank popup with a "Finish" button but never installed. Both PCs had Iolo System Mechanic installed, and removing it allowed the Norton install which works perfectly and seems to duplicate Iolo's features. Thanks to all who mentioned this in other threads. It could be the same issue with any other conflicting optimization utilities for other users, but this fix was specific for SM.
Exactly the same issue, also W10, v2004. It also show up in My Subscriptions, Premium Service: Active, with a S/N. No such program or folder on my PC. I suspect not ready for Prime Time.
Thanks for posting back. Stay healthy.
Thanks for trying. Thats what I have been doing as in your steps and all I have is the window as shown and no further than that. As I said, I am not going to spend more time on this as other too have had the same problem,
Thanks again
Hello again. I just downloaded and install NU Premium onto my laptop, I already have Norton 360 Premium installed as well as having the latest W10 update to version 2004. FWIW!! I DID NOT install from within my Norton account. I downloaded the installer, copied the 25 character key, disconnected my browser and installed OFF LINE. Have you attempted that scenario?
I'm also wondering whether or not you saw this Windows 10 prompt during your installation? Did you click install anyway? Another thing I noted was the prompt for your language.
I got the required desktop icon immediately and located the install as shown below.
And the user interface was also present. I tailored my settings and rebooted. No issues noted after or during restart.
Cheers
Well, I've tried all the solutions above and no joy either. Thanks to those who provided things to try. I do notice that quite a few people in the forum have the same problem and not just me. I assume that its not just me and my computer, its an issue that Norton will have to sort out.
As it is, I am not going to bother now, its just too much of a hassle.
Thanks again everyone.
Try using the Microsoft troubleshooter and see whether it can find / correct anything.
Hi Peterweb. I have tried that and there's no Norton Utilities folder, and did a search for NU and it didn't find anything. I think it never got installed. Thanks for replying.
I'll try that tomorrow and let you know if it does make any difference.
Thanks for replying.
Try clicking on the Start menu and type Norton Utilities. I could find no listing for NU in my start menu, but the app did show up in the search results.
What I did is run NU from that search, and then while it was running, I pinned the icon to the Taskbar.
You can also look in C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities Premium and look for nup.exe. Right click on that file and Create Shortcut to get a shortcut on your desktop.
Check Windows to see if fast startup is enabled or disabled. If enabled , disable it and reboot. Here is how to do that in case you aren't familiar with it. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-turn-off-fast-startup-windows-10-a.html Lets see if that makes the difference. Having that enabled can cause software not to correctly install so we suggest disabling it for that reason.
Cheers
Perhaps I should have mentioned it, yes I did a restart twice and it’s still not there. Thanks for the reply.
Hello HantuUK . This may sound a bit silly to ask, however have you rebooted since doing the installation?
Cheers
