Internet activity lights in system tray?

In this feature in Norton Internet Security 2011?

How about add Internet activity lights in system tray? Similar to the ZoneAlarm system tray icon? Useful for indicating Internet activity...

Hi TsunamiZ,

I'm confident that many will disagree, but I think this is a good idea.

I used ZA for a long time and having that in-your-face real-time indication of network traffic can be very useful. For those who haven't used ZA, it should be noted that the activity lights replace the normal ZA icon in the tray, but only when there is traffic. As I recall, a right-click and a pick would permit quickly blocking all traffic.

I strongly disagree, windows have its own lights, just add the network icon in tray and u ll c the lights on internet activity in tray.

No need to make software heavy for this already present stuff.

With all due respect, I think you miss the point:

- The NIS icon is already sitting in the tray.

- NIS already monitors network traffic.

- The only change would be displaying traffic volume on the tray icon. There would be little if any added burden.

- The Windows network icon does not indicate traffic volume; it only indicates the network is active.

That's hardly the same as having a graphic display sitting in the tray, not requiring any manual intervention.

Hi TsunamiZ,

No this is not a feature of NIS but you can feel free to suggest it in the Norton Ideas forum.

Thank you for submitting the idea and will review it with the team!

I like this idea

Cool.

how about a "hack tracer" so we can report abuse.... there is no programs that do this anymore

That's not a bad idea, it'll also save the CPU less energy and more freely.

this seems to be a good idea aslong as it doesn't waste aload of resources

@Kryptik  that would be useless a competent hacker would be impossilbe to trace and symantec would probably end up getting DDOS with reports of port scans, blocked DNS connections and someone elses internet traffic after changing ip address  from users thinking they have been hacked

Windows 7 doesn't display NIC card activity unlike WinXP.  So having Norton show Internet activity would be great!  Should go hand-in-hand with the suggestion to have active Internet applications listed.
