winxp,sp3,ie8,nis2012(19.9.0.9) back in april, i upgraded nis2011 to nis2012. within the first hour i got the symantec service framework error(8504,104), internet connectivity-host file cleanup- autofix failed to fix. i checked my host file and it only had the one entry(127....local) i've just ignored this. norton and computer were working fine other than the several symantec service framework errors over this time frame. yesterday i decided to do an uninstall/reinstall to get a fresh install of nis2012. control panel-uninstall- selecting to remove all settings,etc.-reboot. run norton removal tool-reboot. run nis2012 installer,all updates,checked version, clicked on get support--internet connectivity-host file cleanup-failed to fix. what the hell is going on. why is that still showing with fresh install? what is this error in the first place. peterweb and yank and all others, please help. thanks
