I just got the NIS 2009 CD and looked through the included installation directions. I knew I would have to uninstall my current AV and firewall programs before starting, and I had planned to disconnect from the Internet, remove the existing software, and then install NIS before reconnecting to the Internet. The brief installation guide indicates, however, that you should be connected to the Internet during the installation process. Is this truly required, or is it to expedite the activation process? It doesn't seem wise to be connected to the Internet before AV and firewall have been completely installed.
Thanks!
