With Norton Family enabled, on a Win 7 Home Premium machine, IE 10 is not closing all it's processes on exit. It leaves behind iexplore.exe *32 processes. If I try to use Task Manager to close them, they either don't close or I get an "Access Denied..." error. These are the steps I took to verify the problem (using Admin Account):
1. Task Manager shows NF.exe is running
2. Open 5 tabs, for different sites, in IE
3. Close IE -> Internet Explorer window closes
4. Check, using Task Manager: iexplore.exe *32 processes are still running in the background
5. Disable Norton Family from running
6. Reboot Machine
7. Task Manager verifies NF.exe is NOT running
8. Open 5 tabs, for different sites, in IE
9. Close IE -> Internet Explorer window closes
10. Check, using Task Manager: All iexplore.exe *32 processes are closed.
Re-enabling Norton Family and Rebooting gives me the same process hang issue.
I need to use IE (even though I prefer FF), as I have some applications that use ActiveX controls.
The ActiveX controls are not a factor as they are loaded and operate the same whether Norton Family is enabled or not.
