I am a Tier 2 technician in a helpdesk for a marketing company. Our employees use PDAs to collect data, and then sync them up with our servers.
This week, we have spoken to 3 of our employees who have Windows Vista, and their PDAs are not able to connect with Widnows Mobile Device center. Here are the details:
PDA: Motorola MC50
PDA OS: Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition
Mobile Device Center Version: 6.1
These users are all running Windows Vista, not sure on the version yet, but i can collect this information. I want to say they are all running 32 bit as well, but again, I am not sure.
The MC50 sits on a cradle, which plugs into the PC through USB. Since the operating system is Windows Mobile 2003, it does not connect via TCP/IP (doesnt assign the PDA an IP address). It instead installs USB drivers for it.
The problem is when the PDA sits on the cradle, Windows Mobile Device center comes up and says it Connecting for about 2 minutes. After this, a red X appears and it says "error"
We have already tried uninstalling the USB drivers, and we have tried uninstalling Mobile Device Center and reinstalling, but this did not make a difference.
One of our users decided to completly reinstall his OS, and got it to work.
Does anyone have any ideas? How can we fix this issue?
