Internet Security Renewal alert (UNWANTED)

Every day at some point I receive this alert telling me that my Internet Security subscription is about to expire.

I keep answering NOT NOW, and it shows up again the next day.

On the one hand, I always appreciate a gentle nudge and am grateful for a helpful reminder---now and then.

But this has continued and has graduated from that desired status to undesirable---words like badgering, nuisance, overkill come to mind.

How do I get this thing to stop? I'm over it.  BY THE WAY I  have not been subscribed to Internet Security since 2009!

Help.

Please advise.

TY

Hi glharrell,

Welcome to the Norton Community. I'm confused by your statement above which I highlighted in blue. If you are not subscribed to NIS then it should also not be installed and therefore no reminders about it being expired.

Can you clarify this?

Also, from a couple of your earlier posts, are you referring to NIS on a MAC or PC?

Thanks and best wishes.

Allen

Hey AllenM

Thank you for your quick response.

Your question is a good one!

To clarify, I subscribe to Norton Confidential for Mac v 1.3.2, and my subscription expires on 12/10/2010.

This is installed on my iMac 27" Intel i5 (quad), latest OS.

This is the app that's been generating the constant reminders to renew.

Now, another matter, in addition to this one (if I may piggyback another issue inside this one!):

I also have Confidential installed on my MacBook Pro 15"

It is also v 1.3.2, but it expires on 03/11/2011.

Not sure how it got this way, but it seems I should correctly have ONE Confidential subscription that covers both machines.

Looks like I'm paying twice.

Whaddayathink, man?

Greatly appreciate your help. Thanx

Hi glharrell,

For best exposure and assistance to you I am requesting that the moderator move this post to the MAC NIS forum.

There will be folks there who can better assist you since I don't have a MAC.

Best wishes.

Allen

First, the subscription alerts come up every day because LiveUpdate is set to check for updates every day. Once you enter the warning period (45 days prior to subscription expiration) the alert will appear whenever you attempt to download updates.

Second, we can't help with subscription issues on the forums here for obvious reasons. You'll need to contact technical support for that.

Now, Norton Confidential has not been sold as since December 2008. It was incorporated into Norton Internet Security in 2008 and has not been available since. That's why you are being prompted to renew your Norton Internet Security subscription. I'm not sure how this copy of Norton Confidential came to be installed on your Mac—if you migrated it from another Mac, machine migration has some problems with subscriptions and you'll need to contact technical support. If you got Norton Confidential from a retailer in the past 2 years, please let us know which one so we can work with that retailer, and we'll work with you on how to resolve the issue.
