Why does it cost more to renew my subcription to Internet Security 2011 than to buy the boxed product in a local discount store?
I can even by the boxed product at Amazon.com with free shipping for $10.00 less than the renewal fee.
There are other on-line sites with free shipping that cost even less.
It seems strange that the software manufacturer would charge more that a third party dealer.
Can you explin this to me?
If Norton undercut its authorized retail suppliers it soon not have any retail outlets ..... nothing unique about this.
Also the lower retail prices are after rebates that are short term and move around from store to store and product to product while the Norton prices are pretty stable.
One difference is in the behavior -- if you renew on line at Norton the new time purchased gets added onto any unexpired time whereas if you buy a new product (from Norton or from a retailer) the new time you buy replaces any unexpired time, wipes it out. Although there are reports bsack from users that speaking nicely to the Customer Support by OnLine Chat will sometime result in them adding it back I don't think there is any guarantee of this.
All of which boils down to buy from where it suits you BUT bve careful of unknown sources since we are getting regular reports here of purchases on eBAY not from well known names turn out to have invalid or used KEYs .......
