Intrusion Prevention update issues?

I am running NIS 2012 on 2 PC's (W7, SP1, 64-bit & XP, SP3). I have previously noticed that the Intrusion Prevention Engine Version # &/or Definition Set # &/or Driver version # would update to new numbers at least once every 24 hours. There have been no Intrusion Prevention updates on my PC's since June 13...and it is now June 17.

Current installations of Intrusion Prevention are running Engine version: 4.9.0.6 Definitions Set version: 20120613.007

Monitoring 2098 signatures. Driver version: 10.1.1.8 ...on both PC's.

I do not recall this many days passing between Intrusion Prevention updates. The concern is...(again) is it just me or is something off line back at Symantec/Norton?

Hello elsewhere,

Thanks for that link. Maybe Norton has so fine-tuned Intrusion Prevention that they don't need to update it every 24 hours, as previously? ...or maybe someone's on vacation.    :smileywink:

Your vacation theory is looking more and more plausible. :smileytongue:

Hey Bombastus,

Yeah, it's been a week already...!

I just noticed a IPS def got installed on my PC through auto update. http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/security_response/securityupdates/list.jsp?fid=nis&pvid=nis2012

The defs are now on 20120618.004.

Neat!

Hello

This link will explain why there was a delay in IPS. A new engine came out. It seems like there are 2 different sets of defnitions at least for NIS 2012.
