Recently noticed my iPhone vpn is always on. I turn slider off and it immediately turns back on. Info below says Norton 360 will connect on demand. Went to Norton mobile app. It says vpn is off for my secure wireless network. Even when I turned off auto connect. iPhone still has vpn on. Only stops if I delete Norton app. I don’t know what to do and getting Norton support is difficult today.
iOS 16.1.2. It may have started after this update.
As an aside, any downside to having vpn on? Any help appreciated. Thanks
You cannot control the Norton VPN feature from the iOS settings. As you note, it will turn itself back on. To control the VPN you have to use the controls within the 360 iOS app.
Something you need to determine is whether or not the actual VPN feature is turned on. Norton also displays the VPN icon in the system notification area at the top of the screen for the Safe Web protection feature. Because of the way Apple locks down the iOS, Norton had to use the VPN programming APIs to provide the Safe Web features.
To see if the VPN is on, you need to look in the Privacy section of the 360 interface.
