Is it really that hard to get a refund from Norton?

I have been a royal customer for Norton, and cannot really remember when I started using Norton, probably when I started with internet some 20 odds years ago.
I had no issues until early this year when I cut down the usage with just one computer, therefore, I tried to change my Delux subscription from 3 computers to just 1. I was getting nowhere and finally when the time cames, the auto renewal charged my VISA, and I disputed immediately back in Jan 2024. I was stupid enough to trust the customer service who persuaded me to take out another subscription of 360 Standard while waiting for a refund. Therefore Norton had charged me twice!
I have been trying to get the refund, and without success, finally posted about it here. A reply was made by the moderator immediately, saying the refund was coming and I did finally got an email from Norton in early July rather than empty promises that my case had been taken care.
Well, you guessed what, it is now Aug 14, no sign, nothing about refund. The customer service did come up with a new excuse that the subscription of Delux was cancelled and the request for refund could not be process as it was over a month ago???
I lost my complete faith from Norton and no double I was scam by Norton, instead of offering me protection!
Will not use Norton ever again!
Everyone, please be aware.

Post Note : Refund was actully done on Jul 10, after 6 months of effort!

hello,
we are in summer. :grinning:
The deadlines are certainly a little longer…

Really? You are not the one being double charged, you can laugh as long as you like until you had the same experience. Good luck!

Okay, I had to put my angry away, as I finally found the refund on July 10 in my VISA bill, so I need to offer my apology for the above post.
But other than the actual refund part, the rest still stands and it was a really really bad experience, and I hope Norton can improve this and not just giving empty promises and nothing done, until I posted my experience with the community?
It is still quite unacceptable dispite various communicatioin attempts and told 6 months for the refund?

I agree. I was advised I had 3 months trial, but after that refunds were impossible. That is reasonable. But I bought Norton YESTERDAY. I bought another computer yesterday, and happened to include a Norton subscription. So, naturally, I decided to a. Get my money back on my subscription I bought yesterday, and b. Make sure that my new computer, with it’s new subscription does NOT get confused with my new subscription from yesterday for my OLD computer.
However- Norton HAS NO HUMAN DEPARTMENT TO ASSIST WITH THIS, APPARENTLY. To answer the question stated, there is NO visible manner in which to do this.
Norton is a great company, and I have used Norton for years. It is the best antivirus system I have ever used.
But- come on. Either you have a money back guarantee- or you do not. And having a customer sink to the point of writing a note like this is low.

Be sure you check the terms of the subscription for the new computer. Usually it is only a limited time trial that is offered with the new computer. So you may still need your own subscription to cover that device after the trial.

You are right i have tried to cancel my subscription it is IMPOSSIBLE

I bought several copies of Norton and as I didn’t need some of them I went online to cancel them. Some copies had a cancellation option but 2 didn’t and will auto rebill later this year.
Having spent 25 mins looking at how to cancel them through useless help files I abandoned the job for a later date. This was a good business that is being ruined by some senior managers upping their bonuses and couldn’t give a crap about the customers as they will be gone.

I agree cancelling and getting a refund is very difficult.Norton show no loyalty to long term customers.there auto renew charge is often more than purchasing a subscription elsewhere.

Hello @mark_hardwick
What would you suggest to make cancelling and getting a refund easier??

Contact support offers no way to actually speak to an agent in a timely manner, and no means for email contact. After twenty minutes waiting on chat, it wasn’t worth the time, so just filing a charge back with my card issuer. Ironic that the once great Norton has now become the kind of internet scammer they opnce helped protect against

Hello @Edward_Witherspoon

I agree and sympathise with you as I am now in the same boat. Despite numerous phone calls all fobbing me off with “I will get it sorted” to "a cheque has been sent out " or “I will pass this up to some one higher” I am still waiting for my refund. Although I haven’t had to wait as long as you yet only since 24th July 2024 so far.
Absolute rubbish service and I have also been a customer since I can’t remember when.
