Is Mobile Security basically the same as Norton 360 multi device on mobiles?

Hi all

I just purchased the norton 360 multi device after using the NIS for a while.

However I haven't found the norton 360 app on the google play store, there is a 360internet security but that appears to be another third party non symentec.

I came across norton mobile security. Is that the same thing and can I use my purchased norton 360 multi device product code on that? I haven't opened up the box yet as I wasn't sure if maybe my android 2.2 would support norton apps.

Thanks in advance!

Hi ConanBarba.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums. :smileyhappy:

Norton Mobile Security (NMS) or Norton Security antivirus as it is currently called in Google Play is the app for Android that is used with N360 Multi-Device and if you look at the Google Play site it tells you that it works with Android 2.1 and above.  So all should be fine for you.

I hope that answers your question.

If you have any more questions do not hesitate to come back.

Thanks andmike.

I'm a bit confused though because the box says norton 360. Which on PC looks a whole lot different compared to this app which has less functionalities too.

Is the multi device version more of a marketing ploy to save people from buying another version that is actually norton mobile security?

Hi ConanBarba.

N360 supports several machines but does not support mobile platforms such as Android.  Android operates in quite a different manner to Windows and so the N360 software cannot be used on most devices (there are now a few "mobile devices" that support a full blown Windows 8 operating system and they will support N360 but for instance Windows RT will not).

So if you have 3 PCs you do not need N360 Multi Device or Norton Mobile Security (NMS) but if you have 3 PC, an Android phone and an iPad you might like to have N360 MD the license for which would cover all of them (however please note that the functionality provided by NMS on iPads and iPhones is far less than the functionality provided on Android devices).

NMS also provides some extra functionality on mobile devices that the normal N360 does not provide for your PC such as locating it and remotely locking it.

Does that help?

Yeah that helps.

Thanks for your reply!
