Issue with IE9 32-bit, NIS, and Apple’s iCloud

Systems: two Dell Desktops, one Dell Laptop; Windows 7 Home Premium and Pro.

I’m a long time NIS user and recently started using iCloud.com when I purchased an iPad and enabled iCloud’s PhotoStream, Calendars, Contacts, Notes, etc. I usually don’t log into the iCloud website, but I noticed last week that I could only sporadically log in and access was excruciatingly slow. However, even if I could log in; Contacts, Calendars, etc. wouldn’t launch and eventually an error message would appear stating “Can’t Load XXXXX; There was a problem loading the Application”. XXXXX named the actual application I was trying to launch.

The result is the same on all three Windows 7 systems. At first I thought this was due to recent Microsoft updates; so as a test I restored the Laptop to a state prior to the updates; no change. I started reading the Apple Discussion groups and discovered similar problems in November/December 2012 and they suggested using Apple’s Safari. So, I downloaded Safari and it worked flawlessly with iCloud.com. Then, to try other troubleshooting tools, I tried IE9 64-bit and it, too, worked flawlessly with iCloud.com. Then, since Safari and IE9 64-bit don’t incorporate Norton Internet Explorer, I decided to temporarily disable "Browser Protection" in the “Advanced, Settings, Web” settings in the NIS panel. Amazingly, this allowed the 32 Bit version of IE 9 to access and work flawlessly with iCloud.

So, somewhere between Apple, Microsoft, and Norton Internet Security there seems to be an issue when trying to access and use iCloud.com. Does anyone know if this is being addressed by any of the three companies?
