Key Scrambler dowload/install question, or programs like it

Hello i have come across this link in the forms, but not much has been said about it (i tried searching for it, etc). Key loggers are my biggest worries for computers, especially since i use online banking, paypal, and ebay etc. What i want to know is if this program is legit, and would actually work. Also for people who have used it, if they could explain it a bit more.

From what i semi read about this product, it prevents key loggers from getting your information, by making it encrypted etc, and im not sure exactly how that would work out.

What i want to know, is that is their a program out their that works well with NIS09/NIS10, spybot teatimer, and malwarebytes? I know Norton does help remove them, etc, but I'm just looking for another layer of protection, because its my biggest fear when it comes to the internet.

Below is the link that was provided in the post i read, apparently Firefox has an add-on for it, but i use IE08(since Norton toolbar works with it).

READ BEFORE CLICKING THE LINK: I do not know if it is a legit site, or if it is safe, I'm hoping for some help with it(it has a green check mark under the Norton inspection, but has no reviews, so I'm iffy on it).

Here is the link:

http://www.qfxsoftware.com/Download.htm

Also wildersecurity seems to talk about this program and its update here:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=1435115

Also this is a stupid question, but its not something i really paid attention too before, but is it normal for the mouse icon to disappear when typing? I mean anywhere, ie, word pad etc. Also if i move the mouse icon while I'm typing it flickers, but only in typing fields. (like if i click the desktop and type it does nothing) I have read this is just something windows does, but i would figure i would double check with you guys.

Again any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Oh i wasn't sure which place to post this, I was Meaning my message is to find an anti-keylogger program that worked well with Norton.

Oh and i do rely on Norton, but i just like to be really sure, like i use Norton, but i also use Spybot and MB.

And the mouse thing, it just disappears when im typing (I think its meant to do that) in text fields, or if i test it by moving the mouse while typing, it flashes, but if its meant to disappear when typing, than that makes sense(again doesn't disappear when typing on something that isn't a text field)

So sorry if this was the wrong section, i just wasn't sure which place to put it.

I use the free version of Keyscrambler personal and like it very much. The free version works only within your browser but, when used in combination with Roboform which automatically fills in your passwords and other web forms, will encrypt your Roboform password within the browsing session. So, you're safe and good to go even if a keylogger is on your system as it prevents keylogger theft of your Roboform password during the browser session. I recommed it. Works well with IE and FF.

Your disappearing mouse pointer is probably the result of your settings. Visit your mouse settings. I bet you will find a check box or slider which will solve your problem. For example, in XP there is a box to check to "hide pointer while typing."

I noticed a number of things to be concerned about in your post.

1.  You have a number of active security processes running at the same time and they can conflict with each other.  You need to avoid duplication of services.

2.  In particular, Teatimer has interfered with Norton installations in the past and could possibly interfere with only Norton upgrades via Norton's Live Update.  My advice would be to delete the entire Spybot S&D program; but if you do feel you need to keep it, do not leave it enabled; only enable it as you need it.

3.  Norton Toolbar should be workable in Firefox as well as IE8.

4.  Norton's Identify Safe does the same kind of things as the product you're asking about.  I don't know about the value of the product you mention; but if Identity Safe just doesn't work the way you want, I can recommend LastPass which works with both FF and IE, is easy to use, and has a nice interface.  My clients have had no problems at all with it.

The point at which encrypted, password protected files are vulnerable to keyloggers is when the master password to the password files are entered. This is true of Roboform. I bet it's true for Identity Safe and LastPass too. While the individual password files are encrypted and are entered automatically by the password manager, the master password which opens the manager is not.

What Keyscrambler does is encrypt all key input during a browser session at the kernel level. It prevents a keylogger, therefore, from discovering the key input of the master password during a browser session. A level of security not generally provided by a password manager.

Unless the master password is protected, all an attacker would have to do is obtain the master through use of keylogger and download the protected password file which than then be unencrypted using the master. Easy access to all stored passwords and not a good result.

Excellent point.  I have always been aware of that concern; and that is why I only use IS and LP for medium-level security.  I may have to learn more about Keyscrambler.  :smileyhappy:

The teatimer has worked really well for me, and i have had pop ups asking if i wanted to allow things(something simple that wasn't a virus or what not, but still was cool it was working) and I have read a lot of people that it works well with Norton. I also have NIS 2009, and the last FF update i installed took off the Norton toolbar, but it may work with NIS10.

and thanks for the answer MD, thats what i was trying to say, i use identity safe for all my passwords, but if a keylogger would have gotten my master password it wouldn't be very good lol.

I also found this on IE official website : http://www.ieaddons.com/en/details/Security/KeyScrambler_Personal/

Seems that they have it as an add on, and i wouldn't think the official website would allow you to install something malicious or bad(which i was trying to find out if the keyscrambler was safe to use) thanks for the answers everyone.

Hi AzureCubia

Maybe you would be interested in a Security OnScreen Keyboard...http://www.aplin.com.au/ ....just released updated version 2.3.2  Interesting site read for info on Keyloggers
