Leave Windows Defender Running?

I thought installing Norton 360 the install process would turn off currently running anti-virus programs.  Just had a windows defender box come up telling me it blocked something.  Do the two conflict?  Should I turn Defender off?

Was it perhaps Windows Smart Screen that you seen block something?  Smart Screen stays enabled when a third-party AV is installed and does not conflict with Norton.

When Norton is installed it disables everything in Defender with the exception of the Windows Defender Firewall. That must remain running for Windows Updates to correctly function. REAL TIME PROTECTION should already not be enabled. Go to the setting in the screenshot I provided. Enable periodic scanning. On the next page that appears check for REAL TIME mode being enabled. If enabled disable it and reboot.

Hi SA.

It is already set to off.

Hello Thomas. Disable these settings in Defender and reboot.
