Hi everyone,
I'm sure someone already asked this question but this is what I'd like to do:
I'd like to use ghost for cloning PC's, laptops, servers, etc and since there is going to be more than 1 person doing this (engineering team) I'd like to have a login pop-up so after you plug your laptop or server to the network it would contact the ghost server, you are asked to enter your username and password.
This is important going forward because I would like to set this up so I know how many for example Windows 2003 servers did each person has cloned. In addition to that I would like to be able to have a license pool for all Windows flavors and as soon as the image of Windows 2003 (for example) is restored on a server 1 license from the pool would be removed and I would be able to look at per user how many times they cloned system and what is the actual system (serial #, HW platform, OS installed, etc).
This would make life easier because now you have 1 server that's used for system cloning and at the same time it monitors times of ghost system used per user as well as distributing licenses so if you're audited you can easily go to that system and show how many systems you have and how many more licenses you have for future use.
I tried searching on line to see if there are any competitors that do this but didn't find either Ghost or someone else doing this in one product; maybe there is a combination of systems that would do it? It might be too complex to implement but if someone out there knows anything similar to what I need please post your thoughts.
Thanks,
DM
