Live Update - "Service Expired"?

My NAV subscription is current through September 2013, but I get a "Service Expired" message when trying to do a Live Update. Why?

Disregard - solved it wth help from another post: Went to "Support" then "Subscription Status" in the program, which apparently refreshed the status - though I'm curious why it would even go to "Expired" status when it actually wasn't?

This can happen if your local machine loses track of the time and date, which typically occurs if your CMOS battery - which powers the system clock when your PC is shut down -needs replacing.  Keep an eye on your system time and date, especially at system startup, before Windows has a chance to update the clock, and if you notice that the information is often wrong, it is time to replace the battery.

Thanks for the reply, but it's not the CMOS clock... battery and clock are just fine, and the clock is updated on a regular basis with various NTP servers. Must be caused by some other issue.

You are right. I have a client where they run a non millenium compliant software and this would otherwise throw the date back to 1918 (I think) ever day. Once that happens the subscription for norton expires but is easily reset once the clock is corrected and the subscription status refreshed. In order to ease the pain, they have installed Chameleon Clock. One of the functions of the Clock is not only to maintain time and date but to block third party applications time adjustments.
