After the Live Update download, there is a "finish" process that begins. It's taking longer and longer to complete, today about 15-20 minutes. It used to be quick, a few minutes at most. Plenty of room on the hard drive, plenty of free RAM on my computer. I wonder if there is an update file, or cache that has become too large in size and needs to be deleted. Does anyone know about this?
Using Symantec Antivirus 10.1.6.600 and Windows 2000.
Your product is apparently Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.1.6.6000 Client for Windows 32/64-bit"" and I think that it dates back several years to the time when LiveUpdate was a separate module.
There are different procedures for coping with LiveUpdate problems for older installations when the LiveUpdate module was a separate, independent module.
Could you check if you have a separate program called LiveUpdate in your Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs area, or if you have a separate program called LiveUpdate installed somewhere on your computer? If so, then there are some procedures for dealing with LIveUpdate when it is a separate, stand-alone module. Also, the place where LiveUpdate stores the temp files is different in that case.
If you could give us some information on the possible location of a separate LiveUpdate module on your PC, then we might be able to direct you to some help files in that area.

You're right, it has it's own icon in Control Panel, and it's own line in Add/Remove Programs, and I've noticed that I can exit the main program and LiveUpdate will keep running...another clue that it's a standalone program.
I see LiveUpdate folders in two locations:
1. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec
2. C:\ProgramFiles\Symantec
BTW, I don't see the words Corporate Edition anywhere, but that's what I thought it was.
Thanks for sending the information on the LIveUpdate files and folders. I think there might be someone on the forum who has had experience with troubleshooting the standalone LiveUpdate product. I have no experience with that version of LiveUpdate.
However, there are some old threads on this forum that concern LiveUpdate, and perhaps you could find a Solution there that applies to your case.
I once saw a reference to a user who had discovered a huge LiveUpdate temp file or folder somewhere on his disk and things improved after he deleted those files. You might try to figure out where your LiveUpdate temp area is located, and look to see what is in that folder.
Right now I have to go to a meeting, so I can't stay much longer on the Forum, but I think that you might find some help if you look at old threads in this forum -- the ones that deal with uninstalling and reinstalling LiveUpdate as a standalone product. You might also find some hints on how to locate the LiveUpdate temp folder for your particular product.
