Live Update window does not refresh/stops screen power save

I disable automatic Live Updates, but have written an application to run it on a schedule that will not interfere with my work schedule. However, the Live Update program does not work well with Windows 10. It will not allow my power-save option to shut the display off when it is supposed to. Also, because the program ASSUMES that the display is always active, there is a problem when Live Update runs when the display is off under power-save. In this case, the Live Update window does not refresh itself properly when the display is powered back up. I get the outline of the window on the desktop, but it does not refresh the Live Update window contents. In fact, other windows that may have been above it in the Z-order (and overlay the Live Update window) continue to show their content in the Live Update window when I minimize those higher-level applications. This is extremely annoying because I have to play some games to get the Live Update window to refresh and show its results (especially when you make product updates, and I need to restart to install those updates).
