Live Updates Fail on Windows 7 for Norton 2010

I am tired of working on this for the last 5 hours and getting zero results. I am tired of talking to unqualified outsource support in India. I am tired of dealing with a product that I paid for and getting below standard results.

I did everything that I was told to do. I have a case number and my bloodpressure if through the roof.

Why won't this product work? It was already removed and reinstalled. I want it to work NOW!

I see over 90,000 issues for this product and several of the threads marked SOLVED are not solved. I am sitting here with my phone in the queue for 31 minutes (and counting) just to be routed to some third world country where they read out of a manual like it's a technical cookbook.

I want this product to work. I paid for it. I went to MANUALLY download the updates and THAT fails. Is Windows 7 THAT incompetent? Does anyone in these outsourcing centers even KNOW what this product does or how it works? I want to speak to someone who can resolve this without having to ask, "Can you repeat that? I can't understand you!" Why is this product always a headache?

Someone fix it. That is what CS is supposed to do.

Hi Melody & Happy New Year

Welcome to the Norton Users Discussion Forum

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your Norton Product. There appears to be a problem today with the Live Updates. It may be the New Year's Holiday or else Symantec is having update server problems. There is a free chat program for customer support also. You don't have to use the phone. If you are in the US or Canada, I will post the link. If you are elsewhere, I'm sure you can find customer chat on your local Symantec Website. Please come back and let us know how you make out with the live chat.

I haven't received any updates today either, so I would say that it is a symantec update server problem.Even if you aren't getting the updates today, your computer is still being protected.

It may just depend on the area.  My liveupdate ran 6 minutes ago, and a manual liveupdate just completed successfully.

No problems with liveupdate here in UK

No problems over here either (Switzerland).

Where are you located and what, if any, error is Norton reporting?  Can you give us the error code or post a copy of your LU log file?

(The file is located in \ProgramData\Norton\{install key number}\NIS_17.1.0.19\Lue\Logs\log.lue .  Copy the log and paste it to your desktop; change the name to lue.log and attach it to post here for review.  Thanks.)

I have had no live update either for my NAV 2009 on xp pro sp3 in the USA. I just tried manual live update also and nothing.

Who am I posting this to, why and what information from my computer is provided in this log? If this is not an official support forum then why would anyone post their personal computer information onto a public forum? If there is a legitimate person on this forum with some authentication for dealing with this then I will send this log after I have been sent a PM. Otherwise, I have no intentions of posting this information.

If anyone takes offense to this then I have nothing to lose by protecting my own interests and the security of my personal computer and its contents. I would rather handle this in a court of law then the court of public opinion.

I was on a call with outsourcing support in India for over 110 minutes until my phone died. After being asked for remote access and being in this troubleshooting event for over 6 hours today I am in no condition to negotiate my terms of support.

Sorry you are having the troubles; I was just offering to help as I have had experience with fixing this issue in the past here.  I can understand you position on official support however and I hope you get you problem solved to your satisfaction.

Just so you will know in the future, none of Norton's logs ever have any personal information or anything that identifies you or your machine directly.

Again, I hope you get this solved and sorry to here of your troubles.

Since this is, for the most part, a user to user help forum, you may be more comfortable with Customer Sevice Chat.  I understand that the wait of official assistance isn't as long as by phone.

Best wishes
