LiveUpdate crashed my laptop

Yesterday, while doing a LiveUpdate, my laptop crashed.  It now has a blue window that I cannot get past.  Nothing works, I cannot go into Settings.  Windows 11 keeps trying to auto correct, but it keeps failing. Doing a restart/reboot does nothing to help.

What can I do to restore my operating system without resetting?

Thank you for looking into this issue. I am sorry I couldn't send the files you requested; I haven't been able to connect the affected PC to the internet. Since others had a similar crash, I hope you have received the data you needed. It would be very helpful to know the outcome of your analysis. Once a cause and/or solution are identified, how is it shared with Norton users?

Thank you.

Hi @Romy2020,

I have sent you a private message requesting additional information. Could you please check your inbox when you get a chance? Thanks.

Thank you for this information. I haven't done the reset yet. I chose the option for recovery to an earlier date instead.  It saved my data, but I will have to reinstall Edge, Google, and Norton. However, I can't do that because I also lost whatever file or app is needed to connect to the internet. As a novice, this has been a nightmare. I've used Norton for years, now I am afraid to reinstall it.

@Romy2020 There are others having this same issue on both Windows 10 and 11. I am forwarding ALL the threads up to one of the contacts at Norton to see what they can tell us about this. Please don't reset your device and give Norton an opportunity to have a look at the cause, maybe we can then get to a solution for all involved without have data loss on your part.

One thing of note is, if you have any other devices with Norton installed and DO NOT have Boot Time Protection set to aggressive, DO NOT set it to aggressive for any reason. In one of the other threads that is the issue. Hoping to have something to report back here soon or have someone Norton get involved with this thread.

@Gayathri_R PLEASE EXPEDITE

I was doing a Norton Live Update when it happened.

i was going from what the op said , and i would think its more of a windows problem than norton based on that

@9wood Let's please allow the OP to respond before we make any assumptions.

its would appear to be a windows issue, either ( just guessing here ) you have a corrupted system and or files, a update didnt finish or some driver or something is causing this

best option would be to do a system restore and see what updates or whatever it finds that could be the reason

Hello Romy2020. Was the live update for your Norton product or was it Windows Updates?
